FOAM BOARD INSULATION

Your Trusted Destination for Foam Board Insulation. Excellence in Every Panel.

Durable and Effective Foam Board Insulation for Superior Thermal Performance
FOAM BOARDS
XPS, EPS, and AP foil-faced foam solutions to satisfy the needs of any insulation project.

From energy-efficient homes to cost-effective commercial spaces, we have the foam boards you need. For use on concrete slabs and where strong resistance to water and moisture intrusion is key, we carry XPS (Extruded Polystyrene) solutions. For projects demanding high R-value insulation or an EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) or AP foil-faced foam sheathing solution for superior thermal performance, we have those insulation foam boards too. Whatever the specific requirements of your project, we have the right foam boards to ensure your construction achieves enhanced energy efficiency, reduced environmental impact, and long-lasting comfort for your customers. Trust our extensive range of insulation materials and expert guidance to deliver outstanding results.

FAQs - Foam Board

Foam board insulation, also called rigid foam insulation, is made from rigid panels that provide continuous insulation over walls, foundations, roofs, and other building surfaces. It offers excellent thermal performance in a relatively thin profile and is commonly used in both residential and commercial construction.

Foam board insulation is often used on exterior walls, foundation walls, basement walls, under concrete slabs, and roofs. It creates a continuous layer of insulation that helps reduce thermal bridging through framing. It can also be used alongside batt insulation or spray foam for even better overall performance.

The three most common types are EPS (expanded polystyrene), XPS (extruded polystyrene), and polyiso (polyisocyanurate). Each has different strengths when it comes to R-value, moisture resistance, compressive strength, and cost. If you’re not sure which one is right for your project, we’re happy to help you compare the options.

EPS is an economical option that works well in many applications. XPS offers excellent moisture resistance and compressive strength, making it a popular choice for foundations and below-grade projects. Polyiso delivers one of the highest R-values per inch and is often used for exterior walls and roofing systems. The best choice depends on where the insulation will be installed and the conditions it will face.

The R-value depends on the type of foam board. EPS generally provides about R-4 per inch, XPS is around R-5 per inch, and polyiso typically offers the highest R-value at about R-6 per inch under many conditions. If you’re trying to meet a specific energy code or project requirement, let us know and we’ll help you select the right product.

Most foam board insulation resists moisture much better than traditional insulation. XPS is especially well known for its moisture resistance, while polyiso is generally recommended for above-grade applications. Choosing the right product depends on where it will be installed, so feel free to ask if you need guidance.

Yes. Foam board is a popular choice for basement walls, crawl spaces, and foundation walls because it provides continuous insulation and helps reduce heat loss through concrete. The type of foam board used depends on moisture exposure and whether the installation is above or below grade.

Many foam board projects are well within the reach of experienced DIYers. The boards are lightweight, easy to cut, and can be attached with the appropriate fasteners or adhesives depending on the application. Properly fitting the boards and sealing the seams are important for getting the best performance. Good news: Performance Pro Supply carries not just foam boards, but everything you need to properly install them. If there are questions before getting started, we’re always happy to help.

Yes. Sealing the seams with compatible tape or spray foam helps create a more continuous air barrier and improves overall performance. These materials are also available at Performance Pro Supply. Taking a little extra time during installation can make a noticeable difference in energy efficiency.

Absolutely. Foam board is often combined with batt insulation, blown-in insulation, or spray foam to improve the overall thermal performance of a building. Many high-performance wall and roof assemblies use multiple insulation types together.

Yes. Foam board provides continuous insulation that helps reduce thermal bridging through wood or steel framing. That means more consistent indoor temperatures, improved comfort, and lower heating and cooling costs over time.

One of the biggest advantages is its high insulating value in a relatively thin panel. It also provides continuous coverage across a building surface, helping reduce heat loss through framing members where traditional cavity insulation cannot.
Foam board works best when it is properly cut, fitted, and sealed. It also needs to be matched to the application since different foam boards perform better in different environments.
